张国新Zhang Guoxin

Zhang Guoxin, male, born in June 1947, has a college education and is a member of the Communist Party of China. He started working in education in 1971 and has held various positions including high school teacher, secretary of the Youth League Branch, director of education, vice principal, principal, and party branch secretary. After retiring in 2007, he was employed as the Vice President of the Elderly Association of Jianhu County Education Bureau, Executive Vice Director of the Working Committee of Jianhu County Experimental Junior High School Education Group, President of the Retired Association, and Secretary of the Party Branch for Retired Cadres.

 

During my teaching period, I have taught subjects such as art and graphic design (labor skills). In 1991, I graduated from the faculty class of China Correspondence University of Calligraphy and Painting. After retirement, I participated in poetry, calligraphy, painting, and photography classes at Jianhu County Senior University. My works have been exhibited multiple times at county and city exhibitions and have won awards. Participated in 15 national calligraphy and painting exhibitions and competitions, winning 3 bronze awards, 2 silver awards, 9 gold awards, and 1 special prize respectively. In 2019, seal script won a special prize in the evaluation of the "Comprehensive Appreciation of Contemporary Chinese Literature and Art". The "Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Guide" published "Shui Xiang Qing" - a collection of calligraphy and painting works by Comrade Zhang Guoxin, and included it in the "Xizhi Library Series". Chinese painting works were selected for the "National Selection of Middle aged and Elderly Calligraphy and Painting Works" (2020 edition) and awarded the title of "National Excellent Middle aged and Elderly Calligrapher and Painter". Won a gold medal in the "2020 Four Seas Cup" Invitation Exhibition of Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting at Home and Abroad, and was awarded the honorary title of "Ambassador of Chinese Culture and Art Inheritance". In 2020, he was awarded the title of "National First Class Calligrapher and Painter". In 2024, he won the "Yangtze River Calligraphy and Painting Creation Award" (Silver Award) at the First Modern and Ancient Legend Art Awards and was hired as a contracted artist at the Modern and Ancient Legend Art Academy.

 

The poetry, calligraphy, painting, photography, and bonsai art I have learned often participate in social welfare activities, serving society and the people. Currently a member of the National Middle aged and Elderly Calligraphy and Painting Society, a member of the Jianhu County and Yancheng City Artists Association and Calligraphy Association, and a researcher at the Global Hanmo Culture and Art Institute.

His landscape paintings are both majestic and elegant, with the "Beautiful Mountains and Rivers" series depicting the new appearance of China's construction or praising the magnificence of mountains and rivers, incorporating the imprint of the times into traditional landscape painting. Like dams and red flags, traditional landscapes carry contemporary patriotism; He used the traditional composition of mountains and rivers to depict the vast and winding scenery of rivers and mountains, with the red sun hanging high adding a magnificent atmosphere. Just as Guo Xi said in his book "Lin Quan Gao Zhi", "Mountains and waters have places to walk, places to look forward to, places to travel, and places to live." His mountains and waters also pursue a scenic and touristic environment, while injecting the spirit of the times.

 

In calligraphy creation, Zhang Guoxin is skilled in both seal script and cursive script. The seal script works are inspired by Li Yangbing's "Iron Wire Seal Script", with even and firm lines, dignified structure, and a powerful brushwork, showcasing the solemnity and elegance of seal script. Cursive script is free and unrestrained, with smooth brushstrokes and continuous shapes, expressing heroic emotions through the ups and downs of cursive script. It has the style of Zhang Xu and Huai Su's cursive script, reflecting his precise grasp and personalized expression of different styles of calligraphy.

 

He is deeply rooted in tradition and has studied various subjects such as flowers and birds, mountains and waters, and calligraphy. He learns from the ancients without being stuck in them, and is able to integrate traditional brush and ink language with contemporary aesthetics and personal emotions.
