On January 18th, the "Endless Zishan" Stone Tiger's Last Ten Years of Painting Exhibition on Canvas Paper was opened at the Shanghai Haipai Art Museum. This is the first public large-scale exhibition of Stone Tiger's paintings since his 2013 exhibition at the National Art Museum of China, and also the first concentrated presentation of his paintings in his later years. Many of Shi Hu's works in his later years depict non concrete scenery, but in that indescribable world, he has surpassed all that concrete can depict, bringing viewers richer imagination and full emotions. He cleverly blends objects and emotions together, presenting an abstract beauty that transcends objective objects. This abstract beauty contains both the formal beauty of objects and the connotation of the spiritual world, and more importantly, the Eastern philosophical charm and mystery displayed in it. This is a unique complex that Shi Hu, as a Chinese artist, cannot shake off.
The works of this exhibition are mainly based on more than 80 creations by Shi Hu during his seclusion in the Hakka Shanxia Village in Heyuan, Lingnan. These works not only showcase Shi Hu's delicate observations and profound insights into the surrounding nature and people, but also deeply reflect his understanding and exploration of the long history and culture.
