Reporter Yu Yue recently held the first event of the Bamboo Slips Calligraphy Special Exhibition at the Calligraphy and Art Education Museum of Zhejiang University, titled "A Brief Introduction to China - Research/Teaching Examples of Bamboo Slips Calligraphy History Observation Exhibition".

This exhibition is based on the calligraphy creation of bamboo slips by Chen Zhenlian, Vice Chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Vice President and Secretary General of Xiling Seal Engravers Society. It includes two main themes and consists of two sections. One is the "Viewing Position: Art and Aesthetics": A Record of Interpreting the Beauty of Bamboo Slips - An Artistic Exploration Exhibition of Bamboo Slips Calligraphy "Form Style and Techniques"; The second is "Reading Position: Academic and Cultural": Doubtful Record of Bamboo Slips Studies - Academic Promotion Exhibition of Bamboo Slips Calligraphy "Knowledge System and Communication". The purpose of this exhibition is to showcase specialized works from two dimensions: "Bamboo Slips Calligraphy Creation - Art and Aesthetics" and "Bamboo Slips History Research - Academic and Cultural", centered around the theme of "Bamboo Slips Archaeology and Art" over the past century. It aims to provide a new and excellent calligraphy teaching exhibition model that combines academic research, practical creation, and exhibition modes for professional teaching in universities, and inspire new thinking in the integration of specialized research, creative innovation, and exhibition dissemination among professional teachers and students. There are a total of 110 exhibited works.

On site, Chen Zhenlian guided teachers and students from the Calligraphy School of China Academy of Art, Hangzhou Normal University, Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics, as well as teachers and students from the Fine Arts Department of Zhejiang University and the Calligraphy, Painting, and Epigraphy Society of Zhejiang University, to observe and conduct teaching discussions together.

It is reported that this series of activities is led by a research team led by Professor Lin Ru from the Department of Fine Arts at the School of Art and Archaeology, Zhejiang University. The research project content deployment is derived from the curation of "Brief Introduction to China", with a total of five measures. In addition to the observation exhibition, academic salons and art education lectures on bamboo slips will be held in the future. Traditional cultural and artistic experience projects with bamboo slips and sealing clay as the theme will be held in conjunction with the exhibition. A teaching achievement report exhibition will also be held next year.

The organizer expressed the hope to fully utilize and explore the charm of "bamboo slips" as an aesthetic form, thereby endowing it with a practical significance that was originally based on contemporary calligraphers and calligraphy creation achievements, and can be extended to combine art and calligraphy, history, philology, archaeology, and museum studies as a new paradigm of interdisciplinary teaching, and promote social aesthetic education of China's bamboo slip art and culture.
