Ink and brush seek solitude, blending Chinese and Western elements
——The Aesthetic Interest and Cultural Responsibility of Wang Henian's Calligraphy and Painting Art

Brush and ink should keep up with the times. Wang Henian's calligraphy and painting art showcases cultural depth and innovative courage in terms of scale. In the field of painting, he excels in landscapes, flowers, birds, and animals, and is able to incorporate Western landscapes into the Eastern brush and ink system. Like foreign architectural sketches, which depict European architecture and mountains through the misty blending of Chinese ink painting, it is a contemporary interpretation of the ancient saying "Learn from nature outside, and draw inspiration from the heart inside" - his "nature" is not limited to local mountains and waters, but expands the expressive territory of ink painting with a global perspective, achieving a subtle balance between the lyrical nature of Chinese painting and the realistic sense of Western landscapes. Its flowers, birds, and beasts also have their own characteristics. The painting "Song Ying Tu" portrays the strength of eagles in dark and dry ink colors, with pine needles as sharp as knives. It captures the cool and relaxed demeanor of the people of the Eight Great Mountains, but also creates its own unique style; The painting 'Twin Horses' is brightly colored, with the divine horses leaping onto the paper, exuding the charm of' washing away the emptiness of ancient horses'; The painting 'Shrimp in a Group' is inspired by the old man Bai Shi without losing his personal style. The agility and transparency of the shrimp fully demonstrate his brushwork skills, just like Sheikh's pursuit of vivid painting theory. In his writing, it is a skillful mastery of traditional brushwork language and a vivid expression of life interest.

In terms of calligraphy creation, his regular script "Preface to the Orchid Pavilion" has four screens, with elegant and square ends, fully displaying the charm of the Wang character, which is in line with the aesthetic character of "Jin people value charm"; The Li script work "Riding on the Dragon and Riding on the Phoenix to Forge the Year" has a broad and vigorous brushwork, capturing the ancient and profound beauty of Hanli. His calligraphy is not a simple imitation of ancient calligraphy, but rather an integration of personal temperament into a deep understanding of "law". As Sun Guoting's "Shupu" said, "At the time of communication, people's calligraphy is old." Wang Henian's calligraphy is on the path of pursuing the past and opening up new horizons.

He takes tradition as the root and innovation as the wing, exploring the contemporary possibilities of Chinese painting through the integration of Chinese and Western art. His works not only have a keen sense of "brush and ink should keep up with the times", but also adhere to the traditional aesthetic realm of "clarity and flavor". He is a practitioner among contemporary calligraphers and painters who combines cultural inheritance and artistic innovation consciousness.
